Viking Air
Project Overview:
The Viking Air project was the flagship development that helped launch Venture Pacific 1.0 after the company was awarded the $18.0 million contract in early 2007. Secured through a long-standing relationship with Vic Davies Architects in Victoria, the project came about after Mark Van Ek was recommended and later selected as construction manager.
What Made This Project Unique:
What made this project unique was its large column-free manufacturing space, designed specifically to support Viking Air’s de Havilland operations with maximum flexibility and efficiency, while seamlessly integrating the head office into the front of the facility.
How We Made It Work:
We made the project work by acting as the owner’s agent under a pure construction management model, allowing for close oversight and coordination at every level of the process. Venture Pacific managed the entire design team, all consultants, all trade contractors, and site manpower to ensure the project moved forward efficiently and aligned with the client’s operational goals. The success of the project relied on strong collaboration, disciplined project management, and a clear understanding of the facility’s functional requirements, particularly the need for a large, open, obstruction-free manufacturing environment tailored to Viking Air’s production needs.
Timeline:
The project began in early 2007 and was successfully completed in mid-2009.
Scope:
Balin building (pre-engineered metal building), a freestanding structure of approximately 64,000 square feet
Style:
A modern industrial manufacturing facility designed for operational efficiency and flexibility.
